Two more weeks!
Yes, it's really true (we still can't quite believe it ourselves); two more weeks and then we leave! March 3 is the departure date, to be exact.
The last lot
Since neither of us has a job, we have been able to focus entirely on the camper recently. In fact, there were some final things that just had to be done. Like getting travel insurance, arranging WiFi, picking out clothes, fixing the rear lights, cleaning the camper outside, cleaning the camper inside, filling up with gas, etc, etc. So still plenty to do!
First long drive
Saturday, February 17, we drove the motorhome to Woerden to visit Mika's family. That was super cozy and fortunately everything worked in the camper. That night we slept in a parking lot in Driebruggen and the next day we drove to the location of the family day. There we had a very pleasant day and said goodbye to Mika's family.
Leakage on the skylight....
After the family party we drove back to Zwiggelte where we slept in the camper at Mika's house. Unfortunately, we couldn't go to sleep right away because the skylight was leaking. Small droplets fell from the ceiling making the comforter quite wet anyway. Mika then climbed on the roof and found a temporary solution. Fortunately we slept well, but unfortunately one more thing to fix before we leave. Also a reality check to show that not everything always goes smoothly.
The destination
A question we get daily is "where is the trip going?". To be honest, we still don't have an answer to that. It actually depends on our jobs. Right now we don't have a job and the plan was to find a job we could do from our laptop. However, this is easier said than done. Therefore, we are trying to look for a job on location. This gives us multiple opportunities in multiple countries. I have such a feeling that the night before we leave, we decide where to go (lovely idea anyway). These days, we can do all that because we use the Park4Night app. It allows you to find (free) camping spots all over the world. So there's no need to make reservations or pick campsites, we'll drive and see where we can find a spot nearby. Of course, we already have our accommodation with us.
Farewell
The plan is that I (Myrthe) will drive the camper to Spanbroek on Saturday to say goodbye to my family. Of course that is best if the camper is there as well. But if the camper is not ready yet, we have to say goodbye without it.
The last few days Mika and I have been saying goodbye to family and friends a lot. That feels incredibly weird because we don't quite realize yet that we are already leaving in two weeks. We are really living by the day and seeing what still needs to be done. Suddenly there are not many days left and the adventure finally begins. So the awareness is increasing more and more, which also increases the enthusiasm for traveling!
