A day trip to Rome, the city of love
We went to the beautiful city of Rome for a few hours.
With the train
From the town of Latina, the train took 45 minutes to Rome. We took the 08:36 train, so the parking lot was very crowded. Fortunately, we were just able to find a spot for our large camper.
Tickets we could easily buy at the station and could board the train directly (with lots of other Italians). When we bought the tickets, we were warned about pickpockets and that we should only follow advice from Trenitalia employees. Fortunately, we didn't suffer from that in Rome.

Colosseum
Once we arrived in the city, we walked straight to the Colosseum. It was not quiet there, but we were able to take nice pictures and enjoy the view in several places. We had decided not to enter the Colosseum because of the incredibly long line that started outside. Also because we only had one day in Rome.
In the meantime, we started to get a little hungry and went to get something quick at McDonald's. It was a very clean place and here we were able to go to a regular restroom again in a long time ;).
Trevi fountain
Then we walked to the Trevi Fountain, where it was really super crowded. Not as crowded as in summer, we can imagine, but nevertheless it was very busy. We took a few photos and walked right back on, away from the crowds. We're glad we saw this in real life, though, because it really is a beautiful fountain, of course.
Meanwhile, we walked through all the little streets with boutiques and stores where we then went inside. We also had to stop by the LEGO Store, where there were very beautiful creations.
We chose not to go to museums or attractions, because first of all we don't have the budget for that and secondly we only had one day in Rome. Then you prefer to see as much as possible. In the city we did everything on foot, which was fine. Keep in mind that everything is not very close together, so you will soon have to walk half an hour to get to the next attraction.
Pizza
Around 2 p.m. we sought out a terrace to eat a well-deserved pizza. We were able to join Sugo, a small pizzeria on a side street. There we also enjoyed a delicious beer and the lots of traffic through those narrow streets. Restaurant was not expensive and you sit there wonderfully, definitely recommended!
Spanish stairs and the train back
Then we walked toward the train station, which was another half-hour walk, and walked along the Spanish Steps. Here too it was very crowded, but we still managed to take some nice pictures. Visited some more small stores and walked back to the station. There too we could easily buy tickets, but finding the right track was a little more difficult. Rome's station is very large, but not all rides are displayed on a board. Fortunately, there are plenty of people from Trenitalia who were able to help us. Around 5:30 pm we were back at the motorhome, which fortunately was still in one piece! Nice to know that we can thus leave the camper behind for the day and that the camper is well secured.
